The West Point Voulnteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad was established in 1904 after a fire destroyed a large section of downtown. It is the oldest civic organization in King William County, Virginia. We are an all volunteer organization with about 40 members who are trained in fire suppression, auto extrication, hazardous material emergencies, emergency vehicle operation and basic and advanced life support
Although located in the Town of West Point, the West Point Volunteer Fire Department provides their services to the town of West Point, VA, as well as parts of King William, King and Queen and New Kent counties.
The membership of WPVFR meet monthly for training and business. Business meetings are held on the second Monday of every month. Every other Monday is a training drill at 7pm, unless otherwise announced.
